02:40 pm - Chicks on Medium
Our main TV, located in the living room, got broke. Since that is the television connected to TiVo we haven't been able to watch a lot of season finales. We finally gave up on waiting for it to be fixed and brought one of our 13inchers in and connected it so we could watch all our recorded stuff.

Hence the lateness in responding to the use of a new Dixie Chicks song in an episode of Medium, the season finale.

Well, it was great. It fit so perfectly and added a stronger feeling to the storyline. Although I have listened to the CD at least 6 times through I hadn't particularly picked up on the song. There are quite a few strong and lyrically full ditties on the album. They demand your attention, well at least mine. The song from the Monday finale is soft and subtle and dramatically beautiful.

I thank NBC, I guess, for including it and bringing it the attention it deserves.

01:19 pm - Chicks on Howard
about two weeks ago while I was listening to Howard Stern he was announcing future guests and said, The Dixie Chicks. I couldn't believe my ears. I thought I must of misheard or there was some sort of mistake. Then days and weeks went by and no chicks. So I thought I was wrong. Then this morning I turned on the satellite radio and saw on the screen, DIXIE CHICKS. Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh! I raced to get it all set up to hear.

It was such a great interview. They were so open and honest and hilarious. They were extremely upfront about their sexuality. It was so impowering and wonderful. They also played two songs, Landslide (a cover on Home) and Not Ready to Make Nice (Taking the Long Way). Both sounded exquisite. There is this part in Not Ready to Make Nice where she talks about people getting angry even to the point of getting death threats. It erupts into a cra-shen-doe (I have no idea to spell the word so I spelled it phonetically) and so far every time I have heard it (maybe six or seven times at this point) I get chills and shivers.

Fuck yeah. Still loving the CD.

09:32 pm - CD #2
I just bought my second copy of Taking The Long Way by D.C.X.

Why? Well I was fiddling a little on their website(okay, okay, I may have been faddling a little also). I checked out their tour dates and saw that there is a presale going on. Well how in the hell do you get a password to get some of this sweet presale deal? You buy a CD from Target. So I did. I hope I don't get taken to the cleaners and have no password in the CD, because you don't want to see La-la mad.

02:50 pm - DCX
I have the new Dixie Chicks album. I am about four songs in and have teared up twice already. I wish I could put into words what this album means to me. For some reason when the D.C.s were attacked and abused I felt some of the sting from the swings. It might be because I agreed with what they said and felt that I was being reprimanded for my beliefs as well. It is more, though, that I just couldn't understand the anger angainst them. They were saying something out of love, concern, caring and people became these vicious beings spilling venom. It was shocking to see such darkness. It was especially hard to see when you want to truly believe that people are actually good, living their lives, doing what they must. The lashout was a scary display of mankind. And what made it worse was the missing reply of the good guys. Where were the screams of support that drowned out the imbeciles? They were absent and the whispers of us few were blown away with strong gusts of right-winged winds.

09:36 pm - Interviewed
1. Leave me a comment saying, "Interview me."
2. I will respond by asking you five questions of a somewhat questionable nature.
3. Update your LJ with the answers to the questions.
4. Include this explanation and an offer to interview someone else in the post.
5. When others comment asking to be interviewed, you will ask them five questions.

I was interviewed by talcotts

1: How did you and Art meat anyways?

I can't help but have my mind drift to dirtyland with that question, but I am pretty sure you meant, 'meet' instead of 'meat', so I will answer in that direction, cleaner, safer :) We met on a message board online. We started emailing, then phone, then I went to Florida to visit him.

2: Who is your favorite writer?

This is a hard question as I have favorite books by different authors, but initially a specific author didn't jump out as my favorite. The only answer I can think of is Jean Auel. I haven't read anything by her in years, but I've read the whole Clan of the Cave Bear series. I started reading the series in middle school and was definitely an introduction for me into adult matters. It is a sentimental answer, but the only one I can think of.

3: You're stranded on a desert island and can have three season-length DVD box sets (from a mix of shows, or three seasons of one show). Which three do you bring?

Again, hard question... good job with the questions. I am going to have to go with Season 1 of Golden Girls, Season 6 of Buffy, and I want to cheat a little and take the future Season 2 of The Office (the american version)............. Oh god, I forgot Firefly... but I have to stick with my first instinct.

4: Why did you move to Lewiston (as opposed to other parts of Maine)?

There were actually a few factors in our locating in L-town. My mother was in the process of dying. I wanted to be near her and get as much time with her as I possibly could. So we needed a location relatively close to where my parents lived. Art needs city or as close as you can come to city in Maine. My sister Sarah already lived in Lewiston. That is about it. Now Sarah lives elsewhere and my mom has passed. So where will we go next? That is my question. I wish I knew the answer :)

5: What is your oldest memory?

This is the easiest of the five. My oldest memory is of my sister Sarah's birth. I was 2 and a half years old and my Dad took me to the hospital and held me up to the window of the nursery to take a peak at the new little bundle of joy.

08:28 am - MySpace is nice
But so many people use it. I feel self-concious journaling. That is probably something wrong with me. I feel like I am an open gal. My neice and nephew are on there though and I don't feel comfortable discussing certain topics with the chance they might read them.

So I am thinking I might begin journaling here again.

04:18 pm - Clumps and work
Work made me cry again today. I don't think that is a good sign. I need to get my large, round buttocks in gear and make a plan to get the heck out of there. Then I need to take the first step of the plan and I think I will be golden. I have been trying to think that way lately. I think it is what a mind like mine needs to get things done. I just think so much, all the time, that it all bundles and clumps and everything is indistiguishable. But when I break things down and have simple step by step tasks I am much more successful. For example... my house is often a wreck. I will think, 'The house needs to get cleaned'. THen I think the livingroom is dirty, the kitchen is dirty, the bathroom is dirty, Zander's room is messy, etc... and I get overwhelmed. I instead think, 'Wash the dishes in the kitchen.' Do it and then it is done and it frees up a little room in my head. I then think, 'Get a bag and pick up the trash off the livingroom floor.' DONE! Another thing off the list and I can start to see more clearly.

For some this might seem like an obvious solution, but you see for me that solution was in the clump that I mentioned above, hard to see.

11:11 am - Back
My favorite thing about bloggin on MSN were the ability to do my list, but then I was like, 'I can just write out a list on here.' So that is what I will do. When I get focused on something it is very difficult for me to see other ideas/solutions. It is one of my downfalls (maybe I will do my top 5 downfalls as a list... hmmmm...).

08:36 pm - where to live
closer to where I grew up(Bryant Pond/Paris/Norway)- the move would put us nearer family and friends and allow me to integrate and give back to a community that I truly love. the area is more rural.

Augusta area- the augusta area gives us the best house for the money. it has a more populated area that is growing. it does move me farther away from work and family, but one goal is to be able to leave that job.

portland/southern maine- we could afford a condo/townhouse. portland is a great city with lots of amenities. puts me closer to cambridge for work. also puts us closer to airports since the necessity to travel to Florida is important

staying in lewiston/auburn- we know the area. area has potential, but is kind of on the cusp of going one way or another.

feel free to give your opinions
